Last year, I decided to run a 5k for the first time in a long while as it was 5 years since I was diagnosed. That lead to what I thought was a lofty goal of raising $5,000. Thanks to tremendous support from friends and family, I ended up raising $12,250!
This year, I decided to get serious about running the 5k, not just jogging it! I set myself a goal of finishing in 25 minutes, roughly an 8 minute per mile pace (last year was approx 33 minutes and 10:30 per mile pace). Unlike last year, I started training the first week of January.
I also challenged myself to raise at least $12,250 again this year!
An estimated five million people worldwide are living with Parkinson’s disease — the second most common brain disease. In the United States, 60,000 new cases will be diagnosed this year alone. There is no cure for Parkinson’s disease…yet.
Your gift will make a real difference: 100 percent of Fox Trot for Parkinson's Research proceeds will go directly to The Michael J. Fox Foundation’s high-impact research programs.
Please consider helping us close the gap on a cure by making a donation today!
