Thank you for visiting our page! This cause is very dear to our team, and we appreciate all the support we can get! We are participating in this 5k in honor of Brian Schultz, who is an incredible father, husband, brother, son, teacher, mentor, and friend to so many of us. Since his diagnosis 9 years ago, Brian continues to display incredible strength and courage, despite all the challenges he and others afflicted with this disease face. Our goal is to raise awareness and money for research to help find a cure for Parkinson's Disease. Together we can make a difference! - Team Schultz
Spotlight Story from Shake It Off 5K 2018 organized by the staff of Jay Stream Middle School:
"The staff at Jay Stream Middle School feels that their coach, P.E. teacher, mentor and friend is someone worth their time and efforts to help him raise awareness and find the cure for Parkinsons’s Disease. We, along with his family will walk/run for Brian and others whose lives are touched by someone with this disease.
A graduate of Eastern Illinois University, Brian, went on to become a member of the Hall of Fame for men’s softball in 2003. This is where he earned his nickname Hobbs. His college buddies named him after the lefty baseball player Roy Hobbs from movie The Natural.
Brian is a gentle giant of sorts. To paraphrase the sentiments of his brother Mike, "In his teens he was a baseball coaches dream, in high school he was a friend to everyone. As an older brother he looks out for his siblings. As a father he and his wife Lisa are raising phenomenal young ladies who are role models in their own right, As a teacher and basketball coach he connects with all his students. Since his diagnosis 8 years ago, Brian continues to display incredible strength and courage despite all the challenges he and others afflicted with this disease face."
