Five million people worldwide are living with Parkinson’s disease — a chronic, degenerative neurological disorder. In the United States, 60,000 new cases will be diagnosed this year alone.

There is no known cure for Parkinson’s disease. But through your support of Team Fox, you can help change this.

The Baehr Challenge, a non-profit organization, is an obstacle course with raising money and awareness for Parkinson's disease as its goals. I am a part of Baehr Buddies, a small, volunteer organization that has partnered with the Baehr Challenge to run with children at the Boys and Girls' Club. At Baehr Buddies, we run about a mile or so each week to instill a love for running and living a healthy lifestyle within the children's minds. The ultimate goal of Baehr Buddies is to run a full marathon (26.2 miles) with children of the Boys and Girls' Club, one mile at a time. During this, we work to raise awareness about Parkinson's disease. Whilst training, the children get small prizes when reaching a mileage goal, which helps them remember that they are one mile closer to reaching their goal of running a full marathon. In the end, Baehr Buddies hopes to teach these young children that running is not as hard as it seems, and that they can reach difficult goals such as this while participating in a special cause.
