100-mile bike ride in Maine and 7 lobster rolls

Bret Parker

It’s been over a year since I completed 7 marathons on 7 continents in 7 days and I am still so amazed at and grateful for everyone’s generosity. Together, we raised $300,000 with every penny going directly to fund research to find a cure for Parkinson’s. #DidEpicShit. And let me tell you – we need it. Every day, my symptoms get a little bit worse. Most recently, I’ve experienced more tremors in my right side, exhausting fatigue and painful cramping in my feet (among other symptoms). Nevertheless, I recognize that 12 years since my diagnosis I’m doing pretty well. I am fortunate that my disease progression has been slow, and I can still get out there to raise money for a cure.

So, what’s our next event? At the end of next summer I’ll bike 100 miles in a single day as part of the New England Parkinson’s Ride in Maine. Training has recently started. Katharine will be by my side (and others are welcome even if you want to do one of the shorter rides).

This event started 10 years ago with only 35 riders, but since then it has grown to attract thousands of riders over the past decade who have raised over $4,000,000. How cool is that?? People bike all different distances, but I’ll tackle the “century.” And as many of you know I love lobster and used to make my annual pilgrimage to visit my boys at sleep-away camp in Maine and eat multiple lobster rolls in a day. I plan to break my 6-roll in 24-hour record the day after the race. I hope you will support me in the 100-mile ride and in my quest for a new 7-lobster roll eating record. #EpicLobsterEating

Every donation counts and any amount makes a difference. Thank you so much!!

Love, Bret

Everyone can help end Parkinson’s disease. That's why I've registered for the 12th annual New England Parkinson's Ride on Saturday, September 7, 2019 where over 1,000 cyclists will gather to help pedal closer to a cure.

An estimated five million people worldwide live with Parkinson's today. It is the second most common neurological disorder. In the United States, approximately 60,000 new cases will be diagnosed this year alone. There is no known cure.

Together, we can change this.

Team Fox is the grassroots community fundraising program at The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research (MJFF). MJFF accelerates high-impact science through smart risk taking and problem solving with a commitment to urgency and efficiency. I’m one of thousands of people around the globe who are turning their passions into Team Fox fundraisers to help them speed a cure for Parkinson’s. When you give today, 100 percent of Team Fox proceeds go straight to MJFF’s programmatic efforts.

Thank you for supporting the New England Parkinson's Ride and the mission of The Michael J. Fox Foundation to help speed a cure for Parkinson's!
