Hi! This August I will become a Bar Mitzvah. Before this milestone event I am happy to help the community with a personal Mitzvah project. I have chosen to support the Michael J Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research. This particular project is personal to me because my grandfather, Howard Shumas was diagnosed with Parkinson's about 20 years ago. I would like to honor him and show my support to a community that is working hard to create therapies and find a cure. Parkinson's disease is preventing him from doing many things including attending my Bar Mitzvah. I chose the name of my team because he and I are both fans of the Philadelphia Flyers. Please consider joining my team on May 11th for this fun run or making a donation.
Parkinson's disease is a neurological disorder that prevents the brain from coordinating movement throughout the body. Patients who suffer from this disease are generally over the age of 60. Recent research indicates that at least one million people in the United States, and more than five million worldwide have Parkinson's disease. Please use the following link to learn more about the Michael J Fox Foundation and all that they do to make a difference.
A fun way to help support this cause is by joining my team in the Racetrac's Run for Research on May 11, 2019 at The Battery Atlanta! The theme of this family friendly 5K run/walk is Race For Fox In Your Craziest Socks! 100% of the race proceeds (including registration fees) will go to the Michael J Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research. Use this link to register for the race. When you reach the 4th section which is the team selection page choose "join an existing team" and type Andrew's Flyers for a Cure in space provided.
If you are unable to make it to the race but would like to help with a monetary donation your generosity would be greatly appreciated. No amount is too small! Choose the team "Andrew's Flyers for a Cure".
