NYC One More Time....

Susan Bilotta

Susan Bilotta

There is nothing more exciting than running through NYC on marathon day. The energy, the crowds, the support and heart. The last time I ran the NYC Marathon was in 2013 which was suppose to be 2012; however, Hurricane Sandy had other ideas. 2020 NYC Marathon was cancelled due to the pandemic and now bring on 2021. Not sure what will happen but I know this I have to run one more time. A goal to achieve during these uncertain times and there is a trend.... Hurricane Sandy, marathon, pandemic, marathon. I started my 5th decade running the NYC Marathon and decided I would end my 5th decade with the NYC Marathon. It has been 6 years since I ran a marathon and I am starting from the very beginning, one foot up, one foot down. I will be running because I can for those who can’t, I will be running in memory of my Mom who would say I am crazy, but I know she will be with me each mile pushing me forward, I am running for my friends who live with Parkinson’s disease each day, I am running because I know The Michael J. Fox Foundation who has funded over $1 billion in research in 20 years will ultimately fund the cure that will eradicate Parkinson’s. I ran NYC Marathon for the first time in 2013, because who can say no to Michael J. Fox? I have run one other Marathon – Disney. It may be the “happiest place on earth,” but the best marathon is truly NYC. I ran both marathons for The Michael J. Fox Foundation/Team Fox with an amazing group of people who inspire me each and every day and I will be doing the same in 2021. So I can use your help to get me across the finish line on Sunday, November 7. Your support no matter how big or small will help us cross another finish line.... the cure for Parkinson's disease. Thank you and keep believing!
Love, Susan

Everyone can help end Parkinson’s disease. An estimated five million people worldwide live with Parkinson's today. It is the second most common neurological disorder. In the United States, approximately 60,000 new cases will be diagnosed this year alone. There is no known cure. Together, we can change this. Team Fox is the grassroots community fundraising program at The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research (MJFF). MJFF accelerates high-impact science through smart risk taking and problem solving with a commitment to urgency and efficiency. I’m one of thousands of people around the globe who are turning their passions into Team Fox fundraisers to help them speed a cure for Parkinson’s. When you give today, 100 percent of Team Fox proceeds go straight to MJFF’s programmatic efforts. Thank you for being part of this team!
