Welcome to My Page

Andrea Hayken

I am proud to be fundraising to support research into Parkinson’s disease! Parkinson’s is a degenerative brain disorder that affects an estimated five million people worldwide. It is the second most common degenerative brain disease after Alzheimer’s, and affects one in 100 adults over age 60.

As many of you know, my mother was diagnosed this year with Parkinson’s disease. Not only does she live with it every day, but her whole family experiences its effects through her. Today, there is no cure for Parkinson’s, but the good people at the Michael J. Fox Foundation are dedicated to finding a cure and improving therapies for those living with the condition.

I have dedicated my efforts in training for and competing in the Memorial Hermann Ironman North American Championship at The Woodlands, Texas (April 27, 2019) to my brave mother. In this spirit, I have partnered with Team Fox to raise money for Parkinson’s research. Team Fox is the grassroots community fundraising program at The Michael J. Fox Foundation. To date, Team Fox has raised over $70 million for Parkinson's research, and 100% of the money raised goes directly into high-impact research programs.

Please know that I am fully financing my own race efforts (entries and hotels and airfare are paid by me), but am asking my friends and fellow athletes to support me (and my mother) in making a donation through Team Fox for a cure. All donations will go straight to research for this disease.

To make a contribution, please go to my fundraising page at fundraise.michaeljfox.org/tf-2019/AHayken, and help us find a cure!

I’ll see you on the trails!
