Five million people worldwide are living with Parkinson’s disease — a chronic, degenerative neurological disorder. In the United States, 60,000 new cases will be diagnosed this year alone. And currently there is no known cure for Parkinson’s disease.
I haven't been diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease but I live with it every day...and it's a roller coaster ride! PD impacts more than the afflicted (in my case, my dad), it impacts family and friends as well. I can't imagine how he feels when he struggles with daily tasks often different than the struggles the day before, or when he freezes mid action and can't seem to get his brain to tell his feet to move, but I know how it makes me feel- it makes me feel frustrated and helpless! When he's having a good day I can forget about it for an hour or two, but on bad days there is not a second that goes by that I'm not worrying about my dad.
I've followed the Michael J. Fox Foundation, and Team Fox in particular, for the last 10+ years and I'm so proud to be associated with an organization that gives so much visibility, funding and education on PD. Team Fox is the grassroots community fundraising program at The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research (MJFF). MJFF accelerates high-impact science through smart risk taking and problem solving with a commitment to urgency and efficiency. I’m one of thousands of people around the globe who are turning their passions into Team Fox fundraisers to help them speed a cure for Parkinson’s.
There's SO much more we need to learn, that's why I've decided to support Team Fox this year with an exciting 5K and beer release event on April 18, 2020 in Berwick, ME.
Please consider supporting me with a donation, every little bit helps!
