My name is Beth Hochstein and I am the founder/director of Dance Party For Parkinson's, Inc. I became an active member of Team Fox in 2010 after I retired from my career as a doctor. I was diagnosed with young-onset Parkinson's disease at the age of 36. Being a member of Team Fox changed my life. It was through Team Fox that I met others like me-women, doctors, also diagnosed young. I quickly found out I was not alone. In 2010, I teamed up with the first person I met through Team Fox, Sharon Greif, to create our first event- Dance Party For Parkinson's. It was after this event that I realized the importance of raising funding and awareness for this disease. With the help of amazing family and friends, Dance Party For Parkinson's, Inc., a non profit organization was born.
We have been fundraising for the last 5 years. We were excited to continue with our second annual "Costumes and Cocktails event". But this year covid had other plans for us. So this year we are not letting covid stop us-we are going virtual!!
Join us this year on February 9, 2021 at 8PM EST for an evening of pure entertainment. We are excited to have cast members from Broadway's Lion King and Wicked performing for you as well as a live Q&A with them. Did you ever wonder what it is like to be backstage at Lion King? Or how long makeup takes to put on in Wicked? You will have the chance to be up close and personal with these amazing performers! There will be a few other surprises as well. Please join us for this fulfilled evening. More info. about this event can be found on our website www.dancepartyforparkinsons.org.
Five million people worldwide are living with Parkinson’s disease — a chronic, degenerative neurological disorder. In the United States, 60,000 new cases will be diagnosed this year alone.
There is no known cure for Parkinson’s disease. But through your support of Team Fox, you can help change this.
Team Fox is the grassroots community fundraising program at The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research (MJFF). MJFF accelerates high-impact science through smart risk taking and problem solving with a commitment to urgency and efficiency. I’m one of thousands of people around the globe who are turning their passions into Team Fox fundraisers to help them speed a cure for Parkinson’s. When you give today, 100 percent of Team Fox proceeds go straight to MJFF research programs.
