Hi There! This is me and my dad. He was diagnosed with early onset Parkinson's disease several decades before his passing in 2014.
For most of my formative years - and long before The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research (MJFF) was founded - he struggled with this chronic, degenerative neurological disorder. And yet, he always demonstrated stoicism.
This year I'm attempting a personal challenge to raise awareness for this disease and to help MJFF speed to a cure for Parkinson's. On June 19, 2022 - before sunrise - I plan to start my same-day bicycle adventure across the state of Illinois.
My journey will start on the banks of the Mississippi River and end at the shores of Lake Michigan - hopefully before sunset! I will be pedaling for 180 miles, or 290 kilometers, (which is nearly a "triple metric century!") While I expect to suffer through long hours on my bicycle, it'll pale in comparison to the years and decades of suffering so many with Parkinson's endure.
There's still no cure, and more than 5,000,000 people worldwide are currently living with Parkinson's disease. But through your support of Team Fox, you can help change this.
Can I count on you to help me achieve my fundraising goal of $25,000 by June 19, 2022?
