WV Fox Trot 2020
The 8th Annual Fox Trot for Parkinson's Research is scheduled for
Saturday, March 21, 2020 at Capitol Market in Charleston, WV.
Last year's event featured more than 400 participants and helped raise over $70,000 for The Michael J. Fox Foundation. Over the seven years of the race, the Fox Trot has raised over $345,000 for Parkinson’s research. The 5K race and walk begins at Capitol Market and weaves its way through the Charleston’s East End to the picturesque State Capitol Complex and then back.
The WV Fox Trot has gone virtual!
What does that mean?
All it means is that you have to find your own 5k course, which is 3.1 miles, to walk or run on. It could be your local gym’s treadmill, the high school track, or around your neighborhood. We will be hanging out at Capitol Market on Saturday morning and you could run or walk around the Market ‘s outside pavilion. We will tell you how many times you need to circle it to reach 3.1 miles.
Why are we doing this?
Given the dramatic spread of the Coronavirus, health officials are advising us to limit crowds of over 200 people. In addition, many Parkinson’s suffers are over 65 years old and have underlying conditions. In plain speak, it means we are the most vulnerable population to the virus.
But, we hope that you still want to participate and help us raise money for Parkinson’s research.
So, what do you have to do?
First of all, register for the Fox Trot and pay your $35 registration fee at www.FoxTrotWV.com. The first 400 people will receive a Fox Trot t-shirt. Remember, 100% of your registration fee goes to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.
Once you are registered, find your course and walk or run 3.1 miles. You have until March 22 to run or walk your race and record your time. We will be handing out awards to overall winners and the winners of certain age categories.
Once you have recorded your time, enter it using this form
We will also be giving out awards for the best pictures so take a photo of you and your family and friends participating in the Virtual Fox Trot. If a Corona beer happens to slip past the editors, we won’t mind.
We will still be hanging out at Capitol Market on Friday evening from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. to hand out our race bags and t-shirts. We will also be there on Saturday morning from 9:00 a.m. – Noon. If you want to participate, but you live in New Jersey or Seattle, no problem. We will mail your t-shirt and any prize you may win.
In memory of our dear friend, Bob DiBenedetto.
Cheers to a better year in 2021!
